First Entree'

This is my first entree in a blog. I finally succumbed to peer pressure of writing a blog. Well, if everyone is doing it. It wouldn't be any harm right?

Well then, I received a phone call from Malakoff on tuesday morning. By miracle, they received my application letter for internship and offered me a position. However, they offered me a place Tanjung Bin, Pontian.
For those who doesn't know what is Malakoff. Click here. Malakoff is actually and independent power producer (IPP). In simple word, its actually power plant. Capable of supplying 2100MW. And its coal-fired type.

How does this particular powerplant works. Simple, a machine called pulverizer pulverizes the coal into small tiny bits. This coal is then burned in the furnace. And everyone knows that when u burn coal u get heat. This heat is then used to boil water into steam which the steam will then turn the turbine. The shaft of the turbine are connected to a generator that will generate electricty. Each generator are capable of generating around 700MW.

Imagine that times 3 (because of the 3 turbine). Then, u will get around 2100MW. Rated power. Im sure many of us(including me) only knows how to switch on/off the lights in our room. But never bother to know how and where it came from.

Enough about technical. The question lies is whether to take the job or not. Here are few pros n cons that im able to listdown.

Pros

1. Good experience to work with a multinational company

2. Good base to learn about almost everthing, not only limited to electronics, as we all know powerplant consist of everything from mechanical to electrical.

3.It will probably look good for my resume(nyeh nyeh)

4.The pay isnt that bad either(nyeh nyeh nyeh)

Cons

1. Quite far. Pontian is about 3hrs drive.

2.Secluded area

3.No accomodation provided

4.Not very interested in eletrical power

As u see the pros and cons are balanced. And its a green light from my parents. Now its all about me. I have to decide whether to go or not haih.

well, here are some of the pictures that i found on the intenet on Tanjung Bin Power Plant. Enjoy!.
